I started writing this post to announce that the Kohala Coast’s Nanea Golf Club will be hosting a “Day with Champions” on Monday, January 17 and to invite Big Island golfers to attend.
However, as I was writing, I received news that the event, which is a major fundraiser hosted each year to benefit the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association is now sold out.
That’s exciting news for organizers and HSJGA!
Among those who donate their time to the fundraiser are players who will be participating in the upcoming Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai Resort, including Tom Watson, Jay Haas, Fred Funk and Hale Irwin. The field is now set for the Mitsubishi Electric Championship, which will be held from January 17-23.
The prestigious members-only Nanea Golf Club is located mauka of Hualalai Four Seasons and Kukio Resort and has become an option for homeowners at Mauna Lani Resort, Mauna Kea Resort as well as others who live along the Kohala Coast.
This event will include a round of golf at Nanea Golf Club along with a Champions Tour Clinic, lunch, cocktails and pupus. Since this is all donated by Nanea Golf Club, $700 of the $750 entry fee will go to the HSJGA for Hawaii’s junior golfers. A member at Nanea Golf Club will be matching all the funds that are raised for this HSJGA fundraiser, so even though the event has sold out, donations (which will be matched) are still welcome.
For more information about donating to HSJGA, email Jim Saunders, General Manager at Nanea Golf Club or contact him at 896-9086.
