The blossoms on Waimea's cherry trees remind us that an upcountry spring is just around the corner
Cherry Blossoms Bring Beauty to Upcountry Waimea
This photo, taken yesterday in Waimea, was shared with us by freelance food writer Devany-Vickery Davidson, wife of Wes Davidson, R(S) of our Hilo office. Devany reminds us that the 19th annual Waimea Cherry Blossom Festival is scheduled to begin on February 4th. This year, according to this North Hawaii News article, new cherry tree seedlings, a gift from the Embassy of Japan, will be planted at Waimea’s historic Church Row Park.
Mahalo, Devany, for the reminder to stop to appreciate this beautiful sign of the coming spring.

Hi, I really enjoyed the pictures of the beautiful trees. Do you know of anywhere where I can purchase cherry blossom trees? I live on Oahu-Mililani, where it’s cool enough–my neighbor has several trees growing in her back yard. Thank you!
Aloha Dayle,
I don’t know of a place to purchase cherry trees on Oahu but you could check with the group that organizes one of Oahu’s Cherry Blossom Festivals. I found this on the Cherry Blossom Festival Hawaii website:
Cherry Blossom Festival | P.O. Box 1105 | Aiea, HI 96701 | (808) 949-2255 | cbfhawaii@gmail.com
Hope that helps!
