When we moved from West Hawaii to Volcano a couple of months ago, we were familiar enough with the community to know we looked forward to this new adventure. After all, my son and his family live here--what’s not to look forward to?
What I couldn’t have anticipated was what a vibrant community it is. Whether you live on the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park side of the highway or on the Volcano Village/Volcano Golf Course side of the highway, all of it contributes to a warm, active, community-minded neighborhood.
The Cooper Center Farmers' Market
Visiting the Sunday morning Farmers' Market at The Cooper Center on Wright Road is a must. All kinds of homemade breads, pastries, burritos and ready-made meals are available. Beautiful produce (much of it organically grown), cut flowers and plants, ceramics and other handcrafted goods are there for the buying.
